We are very sorry to hear you may be impacted by the storm. Our aim is to provide you with as much information as possible related to coverage and answer any questions you may have to help when filing a claim due to loss. We understand that every situation is different and unique to the individual, therefore every claim will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, based on the facts of the claim, and the policy wording.

The following are general statements about coverage. Again, please remember that all claims are evaluated individually.

  • The policy insures residents against accidental, direct, physical loss of or damage to personal property caused by a Windstorm, subject to exclusions and limitations outlined in the policy.
  • Damages resulting from flooding, rising water from the exterior, entering the apartment, are not covered. For instance, if it is determined that flood waters entered the unit via the doors or windows, the resulting damage would not be covered by the policy.

Note that flood insurance is generally an excluded peril across all renters insurance policies and a very uncommon type of insurance across the board.

What to Do in the Event of a Property Loss

  • Make sure the premises are safe prior to entering
  • Make reasonable and necessary repairs to protect yourself and your property from further damage
  • If possible, take photos of the damaged items
  • Keep a record or damaged items (to include proof of ownership)
  • Retain any receipts for expenses resulting from the loss
  • Report the loss as quickly as possible
